IMPORTANCE OF CLASS XII
A few years back when entrance tests didn’t exist, Class XII marks were
the sole criterion for admission into courses like engineering and
medicine. After the arrival of entrance tests like MHT-CET, AIPMT, AIEEE,
IIT-JEE etc., Class XII marks started losing their importance and ended up
remaining a qualifying hurdle between the admission into engineering
& medicine colleges and their respective entrance examinations.
However, Class XII marks have regained its importance as an admission
criterion in today’s scenario, if one aspires to take admission into
engineering, technology or medical courses. Today, Class XII marks along
with the Entrance tests will decide a student’s entry into these courses.
The changes recently introduced by the Ministry of Human Resource
Development (MHRD), Government of India, has revamped the
admission procedure into the Engineering and Medical colleges of India.
This new approach has modified the whole landscape of India’s Higher
Secondary Education.
Also, studying well for Class XII ensures success in Entrance Tests, as the
syllabus for both exams is similar. The class XII exams expect a student to
showcase his knowledge through descriptive answers, whereas
Entrance Tests expects objective answers.
